Abdullah Miniawy
Abdullah Miniawy is an Egyptian expressionist whose work moves fluidly across borders. Voice, word, composition, image and presence fold into one another in a practice that resists boundaries. A writer, singer, composer, actor and 3D generalist, he inhabits the space where language breaks and music begins, where the human voice becomes both witness and instrument.
He has collaborated with artists such as Erik Truffaz, Kamilya Jubran, Yom, Médéric Collignon and Ziur, shaping performances that feel less like concerts and more like temporary homelands. His work has been presented at venues including the Biennale di Venezia Musica, Festival d’Avignon, Institute of Contemporary Arts in London, Haus der Kunst in Munich, Philharmonie de Paris and the Louvre.
Miniawy’s practice moves between disciplines. As an actor, he appeared in Ala Eddine Slim’s Tlamess (2019), and as a filmmaker he directed the short film Rain Ticket (2021). He has also composed for dance, theatre and exhibitions, including Wael Shawki’s Cabaret Crusades III.
Miniawy’s album Le Cri du Caire (2023) received the Victoires du Jazz award, while Peacock Dreams (2025) was widely regarded as one of the standout records of the year. His latest release, Dying is the Internet (2026), with Simo Cell, was selected as Album of the Month by The Guardian.
Across forms, Miniawy works at the threshold between exile and belonging, silence and utterance.
