Papier-mâché, steel
Courtesy of the artist and Galerie EIGEN + ART Leipzig/Berlin
The artist connects tubes of black steel using knee molds made of papier-mâché. Reminiscent of ancient statues, this group of objects refers to an abstract, universal body. They move even further away from the human body. As objects, they are displayed in the exhibition space and are thus ultimately dehumanized. At the same time, the fragile sculptures refer to relics of buildings or monuments, whereby, in the face of destruction, the fragility of human life and social habitat appears equally in the fragments.
