Anna Ehrenstein is a German-Albanian-Turkish artist and professor of expanded photography at HGB Leipzig. Working across installation, lens-based media, sculpture, and collaborative research, her practice investigates digital labor, networked image economies, and postcolonial infrastructures. Her work often takes the form of speculative environments and “precarious assemblages” that foreground distributed authorship, a muslim epistemic and the human systems behind technological abstraction. A coming-together always close to falling apart: objects, images, and bodies leaning into one another without guarantee of permanence. It gestures toward the fragility of south–south trajectories and global dependencies, yet also toward the provisional possibilities of living otherwise. Ehrenstein has exhibited internationally, including this year at Musee de Joliett Montreal, the Quebec Biennial and at Fotografiska Berlin, and her works are held in collections such as the Bundeskunstsammlung and Fotomuseum Winterthur.
