As part of a week-long program at KW, the artist residency and music ensemble Grounded Outer Space People open their collaborative practice to the public each evening.

Conceived by artist and musician Anton Kats (* 1983, Kherson), the group is reconstituted for each iteration through invited performers. For this edition, the invited artists are Hiromu Seifert, Natalie Greffel, and Nima Séne, making its ever-changing formation central to its exploration of transmigration and sound. Over the course of the residency, sonic, textual and visual proposals emerge through improvisation and shared listening, shaped by the contexts and references each artist brings.

Interdisciplinary and open-ended in nature, Grounded Outer Space People is built on Kats’ multi-faceted practice, spanning music, radio, installation, and publication. The project draws on the artist's ongoing articulation of “sonic antifascism” and on Ukrainian cosmism, approaching its imaginative and planetary thinking through sound.

Inspired, among others, by the Chicago Boys Project of Hiwa K and artist and philosopher Fedir Tetyanych (1942–2007), the ensemble situates music as a practice of implication across bodies, histories, and geographies.
